Don and I are both competitive people, but he beats me by a mile in competitiveness. He keeps score – accurately – when we play putt putt golf. He takes every college pool we are in very seriously, and doesn’t like it if I pick teams by choosing my favorite colors and then do better than him. He is good at every sport he plays, and everything he puts time and effort into doing. I tend to be a little goofier, a little less serious and somehow, someway I still do ok. Together, we make a good team.
With all that being said, this is the year that I am going to give him some real competition in Fantasy Sports.
One real advantage that he has over me is that he listens to Sirius XM Fantasy Sports radio every time he is in his car. That is an hour a day just with his work commute. When things are getting really serious, it is not uncommon for him to sit in the driveway for a few minutes, listening to the end of a segment.
My secret (or not so secret) advantage this year is going to be my hot-off-the-press copy of Bob Lung’s 2018 Fantasy Football Consistency Guide. It came in the mail Thursday and I plan to use it to beat Don at his best game. Bob Lung knows his stuff, and if I had followed his advice I probably would have done better last year. A little friendly competition does a couple good. Keeps things interesting. I have a ton of respect for Don’s knowledge about Fantasy Football, and he respects my ability to win pools by choosing the “pretty” teams.
