Last night was an exciting and fun night for us – the draft for the Big Guy Bowl 2017 Fantasy Football League! We have been looking forward to the draft ever since Bob Lung invited us to join his league, and fully intended to write a post for our blog while drafting. We are pretty good at writing during events, but the draft was fast, fun and furious with no time to write! Bob Lung is the Consistency King so it only took him a few seconds to call me out when our first pick was Mike Evans. We went against Bob’s advice in his 2017 Fantasy Football Consistency Guide by picking Evans, but Don is convinced that he is an excellent pick. Evans has played three years, playing all sixteen games his third year and fifteen games his first two. In each of his first three seasons, his receptions and yards have gone up every year. Last year he had 96 receptions and 1,321 yards receiving, along with 12 touchdowns. Our next two picks were Running Backs – Jordan Howard and Christian McCaffrey. Those two players should catch a lot of balls and, with this being a PPR league, score a lot of points. Our fourth pick was all Don and he was super pumped to get Tyreek Hill. The Kansas City Chiefs lost Jeremy Maclin, so now Hill is their main receiver. Bob Lung did agree with this pick!
Our first pick was not the only bold draft move we made. Don made me a nervous wreck by waiting until the eleventh round to draft a Quarterback! Other teams started drafting their QBs in the second round and we think there were even a couple of back up Quarterbacks drafted before we picked Philip Rivers. My first pick might have been Tom Brady (based on looks), so it is a good thing Don was in control of the mouse!
We rounded out our lineup with Martavis Bryant, C.J. Anderson, Ameer Abdullah, and Zach Ertz. We are really looking forward to playing in this league and think that A Fantasy FB Couple has a great chance to win! The league is made up of a fun group and promises to give us plenty of Fantasy Football content to write about.
