Poland Seminary High School football was coached by Dave Pavlansky from 1968 to 1978. Pavlansky left such a mark on the school that their stadium is named after him.
Thursday night was the season opener at PSHS. Poland vs Canfield. A rivalry that goes back many, many years. They call it the battle of 224, coming from State Route 224 running through both towns.

Mike Pavlansky is the head coach of Canfield High School. Poland Seminary High School is coached by Tom Pavlansky. Brothers. Dave Pavlansky’s sons.

The game began with the coin toss – by no other than Mrs. Pavlansky, Mike and Tom’s mom.

Could this be any better?

The game drew a standing room only crowd. Canfield fans showed up in such numbers that they ran out of room in the away stands and had to sit on the Poland side.

Canfield beat the home team 24-12.

Can you imagine what the holidays will be like at the Pavlansky’s this year?
