The Scott Fish Bowl draft is different from other drafts which are usually snake drafts in every round. This one was a third round reversal, making the strategy a little different also. It is a tight end premium and two quarterback league, so going into the draft, picking second, he knew he wanted to get a quarterback first.
With his first pick, he took Justin Herbert. After that, his strategy was to try to get a top player at each of the positions before he chose another quarterback.
In the second round, he selected Kyle Pitts who could be a top two or three tight end this season.
In the third round, he chose Saquon Barkley. Saquon is one of the top running backs but has a injury history. If he can stay healthy this year, he will be one of the best.
Fourth round, he selected Cee Dee Lamb who should be a target monster in Dallas.
Don was happy after his first four picks, feeling he has a top performer at each position.
With the fifth round pick, he got his second tight end, Zach Ertz and followed up in the sixth round getting his second quarterback, Matt Ryan.
When the seventh round came back around, he grabbed receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. Don was thrilled to get him due to the high volume he should receive for Detroit.
He then went two running backs in a row, getting Kareem Hunt and Rashaad Penny.
The next half of the draft, Don wanted to go with players who had some high upside. He got five rookies and a few solid veterans in his next ten picks that all have the capability of producing good numbers this year.
The Scott Fish Bowl is a league of over 3,000 people, so being unique is very important in order to try to win the whole thing.
We will keep you posted through the year with how Don is doing in this league and his others. It is worth repeating that Scott Fish is doing great things with his charity league, and we always appreciate the effort Bob Lung gives to events.
