Labor Day Weekend is always a big draft weekend for Don, with two FFPC Football Guys Players Championship drafts and his Hometown League draft.
The first FFPC draft was Friday night. Don had the 12th pick in that league, the same pick he had in the Sirius XM Fantasy Sports ROH league. He went with a completely different strategy this time and went with four straight Running Backs.
The other FFPC draft is today and he has the 4th pick. Many thanks to Fantasy Mojo – Don subscribes to his site, and the draft boards he posts are a valuable tool. Lots of preparation go into the drafts, and it helps to see the order the players go in and how different owners build their teams.
Don’s Hometown League draft was Saturday night. The yearly get together was different this time because of the pandemic. The draft was still held in a room at a local bar, but a few guys didn’t feel comfortable going and drafted from home. Everything went smoothly and hopefully next year the whole league will be back together for the draft.
The huge trophy is always present at the Hometown draft. We have escaped having it in our living room for a few years, so Don took pictures to remind me just how big it is.
The trophy is huge, and it is a real honor to win it. The Hometown League is made up of local guys who are serious about Fantasy Football.
Don had the second pick, and in a 16-team league, that is a long wait between his first and second selection. He took Running Back Saquon Barkley with his first pick and Wide Receiver Allen Robinson with his second. He ended up with a team he is happy with. This may be a more difficult year to manage with the COVID-19 issues, working the waiver wire constantly in order to stay competitive.
If all goes well, there will be another “Don Kurjan” engraved on the huge trophy, and it will sit in its place of honor in our living room….for a whole year.
