This past week, our Saturday night date night was beyond exceptional. We both tend to be homebodies and are very happy to spend our weekend evenings out on the deck listening to Sirius XM Fantasy Sports Radio. It doesn’t bother us at all to skip going out to eat and stay home with our little four-legged friends. However, Saturday night we had one of our best experiences as a fantasy football couple.
The King’s Classic Fantasy Football Draft was held at the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday. The King’s Classic consisted of two leagues who participated in a snake draft first, and then an auction draft. Each league was made of up twelve players – can you imagine twenty-four experts in one place?
Bob Lung, Fantasy Football expert and one of the creators of the event, clued us in several weeks ago that the event was taking place. We made plans at that time to go to the Hall of Fame, hoping to meet Lung and at least a few of the other experts. While we were unable to watch the draft as originally planned, we were able to listen to it because it was broadcast live on Sirius XM Fantasy Sports Radio.
Don has been a huge fan of the hosts of Sirius XM Fantasy Sports for years, and I have become a faithful listener for the last couple of years – especially to the Football Diehards show. When we heard the draft announced on the radio, I asked Bob Harris of the Football Diehards if he would be attending. We were so excited when he said he would be!
As it turned out, fans were not allowed into the draft rooms to observe, but we were able to catch up with the crew afterwards at Buffalo Wild Wings. First, we joined Bob Lung, Ron Rigney and Colby Conway and chatted with them for awhile.
Then, Don got to sit by Josh Hayes from Rotoballer. Not only did they get to talk Fantasy, but they also discussed the upcoming Cleveland Browns. Josh is a Browns fan too, so that made the conversation even better. Josh got both of us excited about doing an auction league. Neither one of us have ever done one, but it sounds like a lot of fun!
Don got to chat with the founder of Pros vs Joes Draft Challenge, Fantasy Mojo, Darren Armani. He gave Don a few tips and we look forward to catching up with him at the FFPC draft.
Bob Harris also spent a good chunk of his evening with us. We talked everything from Fantasy Football to movies to Instapots. He is easy to talk to and very likable, making us feel like we were catching up with an old friend.
Thanks to Bob Lung and Bob Harris we were able to meet several top fantasy football experts and spend the evening getting to know them. Everyone we met was gracious and kind. Don was able to talk Fantasy Football with the best of the best, and we had an awesome Saturday night date night.
Sounds like a great time! Wish I was there!
I wish you were too! Next year!
