The last time we went to a Cleveland baseball game was in 2018. We went to two or three Indians games every year, sometimes more but never less.
For some reason, we didn’t go to a game in 2019. There must have been many reasons – life – but the season came and went and we didn’t make it to the ballpark. When the season was over, we couldn’t believe we didn’t go to one single game and decided to make sure we made it to a few games the next year….2020. No games that year, the next, and the next.
Today, we went to our very first Cleveland Guardians game. We’ve been like most diehard fans and have had a hard time accepting our team’s new name. Standing way up high in “The Jake” (hard to call it Progressive Field), we could see the 43 foot tall Guardians of Transportation on each side of the Lorain-Carnegie Bridge. While we will probably always call the team the Indians, at least now the new name feels a little better.
We have probably never been more excited to go to a game. We couldn’t wait to be back in the ballpark, eating hotdogs, and feeling the excitement of all the fans. A lot has changed since 2018 and it was almost like our first time to ever go to the stadium. The hotdogs were delicious! And so were the nachos from the Barrio Tacos stand.
Our seats were perfect. From where we sat above home plate, we could see everything. We used to buy seats as close to the field as we could get, but we learned from my cousin Andy that you can see a whole lot more if you’re up high. The lady behind us said she couldn’t believe how great the seats were for the price. We agree!
The Hot Dog Race was a close one, but Mustard pulled off a win. There’s usually a little shenanigans with those Hot Dogs!
Going into the 8th inning, the score was 2-1, Guardians. The Guardians scored four runs in the bottom of the 8th! The crowd went wild! Final score Guardians – 6, A’s 1. What a fun game!
It was a beautiful day, our team got the W, and we are excited that we’ve already made plans to go to another game.
