Before you click on the “x” this is not a political post!
For years, we have been appalled at the amount of money that political candidates spend on their campaigns. From local government all the way up to the President of the United States, entirely too much is spent on ridiculous advertisements. Instead of a candidate telling us why we should vote for them, the ads are almost always a complete slam of their opponent. Have they never heard the motto, “Be Kind”?
Presidential candidates spend hundreds of millions of dollars in their race for the White House. We have come up with a few ideas that would make better use of their funds.
1). Most people think our borders should be protected. Use all that money to fund building materials, put the political campaign volunteers to work and livestream the building of the wall. They can even be creative since it’s not government money, and paint slogans, American flags, peace signs, etc. Make a party of it, livestream on all social media feeds, and there you go – productive campaigning. The wall is a fill-in-the-blank situation since they can choose whatever project they wish.
2). Feed the hungry. Hunger is a horrible issue in the United States. FeedingAmerica.org states every dollar donated can provide ten meals. It says one in seven people face hunger in America, a 30% increase in the last year. We’ve read that logistics is one of the largest obstacles that must be overcome in order for the abundance of food to get to where it is needed. The candidates have access to extensive resources that should be able to find a solution to the problem and end all hunger in this great country of ours. As this fantastic news spreads, votes will be won.
3). Create a “swear” jar. Every time a political candidate or their representatives speaks negatively about their opponent, they must make a large deposit into the swear jar. At the end of the campaign, the proceeds from the jar will go to a charity of America’s choice. This can be a fun addition to the ballot, and will definitely keep all the charities busy policing the political negativity. It’s probably going to be an enormous fund, so let’s donate to the top three charities.
Our ideas are meant for fun and entertainment but there is quite a bit of truth in this post. Instead of creating more division, our leaders should look for ways to bring us all together, on common ground with a higher purpose. Let’s make election year a time that everyone looks forward to, a time to do good things and to make a difference in the world. Most of all, let’s remember to be kind.
