This is the week for the biggest Fantasy Football draft that Don has ever been in. Biggest as far as fame and fortune. His Hometown Trophy league still holds the prize for Biggest Trophy.
The Fantasy Football Players Championship Main Event draft is being held this week in Las Vegas. The drafts are also taking place online, but Don is drafting LIVE, in person, at Planet Hollywood.
Earlier this month, when we mingled with the Fantasy Football experts at Buffalo Wild Wings, we met Fantasy Mojo Darren Armani. Meeting Darren was gold. He is founder of the Pros vs Joes Draft Challenge and is the number one source for FFPC ADP and league data. And, the best part….he will be in Vegas while we are there!
The FFPC Main Event consists of 1800 entries. There are 150 twelve-team leagues. Planet Hollywood will be busting at the seams with Fantasy Football folks! I can’t think of any better time to be in Vegas than the first week of NFL.
Last year, Don ended the regular season of the Football Guys’ FFPC first place in his league, and ranked 19th overall. After the regular season, there is a two-week playoff. Don would have won his league championship if he had started Tyreek Hill instead of Davonte Adams. His gut told him Hill, but he went with the popular consensus of Adams, going against my Number One rule: Trust Your Gut.
Despite the Adams debacle, Don’s ranking landed us in Vegas this year, so I am super proud of him and can’t wait to see how this plays out. He is listening to the experts non-stop, reviewing Bob Lung’s Consistency Guide and doing many mock drafts. He will be well-prepared for his draft Friday morning.
