Twas the night before Halloween and all through the house…pumpkins were being carved, cauldrons were being filled with candy and there was Fantasy Football talk.
My latest book, Bernie Picks a Pumpkin, features four pumpkins at the end. A few weeks ago, Don told me he could carve those pumpkins – no problem. Tonight he is making good on his word. Two down, two to go. At this point, if we end up with two I am happy. Hopefully, by tomorrow night, there are one-eyed pumpkins on lots of front porches! This book has been one of my favorites and has conjured up a lot of kindness.
Our street doesn’t have very many young kiddos, but we usually have over 100 trick-or-treaters. Somewhere along the line, our neighbors got a reputation for giving lots of good treats, including full-size candy bars. Last year our supply of Lemonheads and Twizzlers did not appear to meet the approval of very many of the trick-or-treaters. Don buys our candy at his store and he doesn’t eat chocolate, so the little goblins are out of luck. This year’s bags of Skittles, Starburst and Lifesavers might be a little more to their liking. Don says everyone hands out chocolate so it’s nice to have something different. We will see!
At the end of Week 8, we are probably going to lose our first game in the Fabiano Invitational Dynasty League. Having a 7-0 record was fun, considering we are playing against some of the best in the biz. We love our team; Don even loves our bench warmers. I am in three other leagues and am doing fair in two and pretty good in the third. Since we are all know I am in danger of being jinxed, I will leave it at that.
Don is in 15 leagues this year – one more than last year. He is doing well in some and others he doesn’t want to talk about. Yikes!
We’re both having fun with “free” money bets now that Ohio legalized sports betting. Several of the sites have offered bonuses and we have taken advantage of all them. One of us is winning and the other is down to one dollar.
Don has a chance to redeem his bad picks if he continues to move forward in the Eliminator Pool. It has a payout of over $12,000 and is down to 28 players. Fingers crossed!
Back to pumpkin carving and scary movie watching until it’s time to watch the Raiders vs Lions!
