Thursday night football this season has started off with a bang! The first two Thursday night games have had star running backs whose plays have scored big for fantasy team owners. Week One, C J Anderson had 92 yards rushing, 47 yards receiving and two touchdowns for an amazing first game of the season. This performance was partly responsible for Don’s high point run. Week Two was equally successful for Matt Forte who had 100 yards rushing, nine yards receiving and two touchdowns.
The Week Three Thursday night game will feature Lamar Miller when the Houston Texans take on the New England Patriots. In Miller’s first game of the season against Chicago, he had 106 yards rushing in the Texans win over the Bears, and had four catches for a total of 11 yards receiving. In regard to the Patriots’ running backs, you never know what Bill Belichick has planned. His schemes routinely keep other teams in the dark about which running back is going to go off.
Dave, one of the team owners in Don’s trophy league has had the misfortune to play against C J Anderson in Week One and Matt Forte in Week Two. His opponent in both weeks started out with a lead against him thanks to the stellar performance of these running backs. Looking ahead to Week Three, the trend will continue! Thursday night, Dave will face the team owner who has Lamar Miller – tough luck for Dave, who will more than likely have another week starting with a deficit.
Cincinnati running back, Jeremy Hill will have his chance at Thursday night magic in Week Four against Miami. His numbers in the Week One were solid, although not as impressive as Anderson and Forte. Hill had 31 yards rushing and a touchdown in the Bengals win over the Jets. Jeremy’s Week Two numbers will be challenged by the strong Steelers defense.
Michael Fabiano (Twitter @Michael_Fabiano), fantasy football analyst for the National Football League, said at the Fantasy Football Experience that this would be the year the running backs bounce back. Receivers will still give the team owners their money’s worth, but expect to see high points from this season’s running backs. It will be interesting to see how many of the high-point running backs Dave will face this year!
