T’was the week before Christmas and all through the town….everyone knew Dempsey was about to go down.
One big difference between Don and me is that I am way more willing to put myself out on a limb in order to write a poem that rhymes. Don is more in the camp of saying, “Wow, Dempsey is making a lot of moves. He has a couple really good players!”. Nope. Not me. I am all in for the blog post and I feel fairly confident that we will win the Football Diehards Listeners League Championship while we are at it.
We did win the two-week playoffs, beating But Why Male Models 311.5-247.9. Quinn Shannon might be the nicest guy ever, but why But Why Male Models? I haven’t been able to make any sense of that all season, so I am glad we beat him. Mike Dempsey of the Football Diehards took down 1Evil Genius 253.7-249.6. TJ Suhm isn’t so evil and he has a pretty cool team name. We would have been rooting for him if he was playing anyone but Dempsey. We hoped from the beginning to go against Dempsey or Bob Harris in the Championships!
Don lost his Hometown Trophy League 98-63, meaning he will have to win the last two games in order to win his division. He is only one game out of first – everyone in his division is within a game or two of each other. The fun part of the next two weeks in this league is that he is playing Andy Wakefield this week, and Andy’s Dad, George, next week! Andy was lucky to get a team in this league, seeing there haven’t been very many openings in the last few years.
We are full of the Christmas Spirit, but we are also full of the Winning Spirit! Things are serious around here and Don isn’t in the mood for my rhymes. He says we should get the win and then make up our poem, but by then Christmas will be over and it will be too late for my Christmas poetry.
