It is hard to believe we are already writing about our Week One results! Where did the summer go?
We went up against Team Kenny B from mXc (Ryan Blankenship) in the Football Diehards Listeners League and came out on top 130.2 – 119.8. That was pretty good considering we got a big fat zero from Marquise Goodwin who was injured during the game.
Don won his game 188.2 – 105.05 against U Mad Bro? in the FFPC Main Event and is ranked 81 out of 1800 teams. U Mad Bro? had the first pick in the draft so Don got to talk to the team’s co-owners on draft day. They were also at the Sunday sports book party in Vegas. They are both Denver fans so we were happy for them that the Broncos won against the Seahawks.
Don says we are not going to mention his other two FFPC leagues. I say we have to mention wins and losses if we are going to write about our results! He didn’t do so well in the first week in either of those leagues, but it is just one week. He drafted Le’Veon Bell in one of the leagues, which hurt him now but could come back and help him later in the season.
George, the defending champion of the Hometown Trophy League, beat Don 126.4 – 118.5. Don scored the third highest points but lost because he played against the team who scored the second highest. It was looking really good for Don right up until the end. George has a reputation for being able to pull that off.
Week One in the 5 Rings Survivor Pool was terrible for anyone who picked the New Orleans Saints or the Detroit Lions. Our son-in-law, Bobby, picked the Saints, and Don picked the Lions. The pool went from 106 participants to 52 in the first week! Two guys in the pool had two entries and both chose the Saints and the Lions. They aren’t very happy, to say the least. Tough luck. I went with Baltimore and survived longer than I did last year.
We both think Week One is the hardest week of the season. Sometimes the players have to find their groove, and we do too. It was fun and mostly successful. I’m really proud of Don for that 81/1800 ranking – great job Hulking Out!
