We had a full weekend of football beginning with our hometown high school rivalry game Friday night. Mineral Ridge and McDonald have been rivals for as long as anyone can remember. The rivalry is friendlier than it used to be, but it is still the best game of the year to attend.
Don, Nathan, and I all went to the game Friday night. The parking lot was packed half an hour before kickoff, and there was excitement in the air. All of the area high school sportscasters predicted Mineral Ridge to win. Unfortunately, Ridge didn’t play their best, and McDonald took advantage and won the game.
Saturday, we watched UCF take on Pitt. When we first turned the game on, the score was 21-0. We weren’t paying close attention, and next thing we knew, UCF had caught up and then took the lead! Pitt won, disappointing a lot of Florida fans, including my cousin Cindy and her husband Terry. Their daughter went to UCF, and they are huge fans of UCF football.
Don and Bobby are still going strong in the Survivor Pool! Don took the Patriots and Dallas, both easy peasy picks. Bobby took the Patriots, then changed his pick to Dallas. A little scary there, Bobby, but great job staying in the Pool. The Pool only lost two unlucky players with their Seattle pick. The guy who took San Francisco was probably about to have a heart attack, but San Fran pulled off a win over the Steelers.
Don pulled a split in his FFPC Leagues, losing one 197-174. His record is 1-2 in that league, so he needs to get a little luckier in Week 4.
The rules of the FFPC Leagues and Don’s Hometown Trophy League are completely different. One is PPR, one isn’t. Completely different scoring. It is pretty cool that he won his Hometown League and the other FFPC League by almost the exact same score!
Two out of three isn’t bad. It’s hard to win three leagues and stay alive in the Survivor Pool.
Our Browns struggled Sunday Night, but we are keeping the faith and still think they will get their act together and win. And, the Indians are still in Wild Card contention! All in all, a fun sports-filled weekend.
