Week Three will forever be remembered as the week that ended the Cleveland drought. If absolutely nothing else happened last week, that would be way more than enough!
Don is highpoint guy again for his Hometown Trophy League, scoring 125.4 in a non-PPR league. None of his players went super crazy, but they all did well. I am having nightmares about a 4 foot tall trophy in our living room.
It was another bust for the FFPC Main Event, with Don scoring his lowest point total for the season so far. He scored 107.8. Awful. He scored more in his Hometown League with two less players. What is going on with David Johnson? He did a little better this week, but nowhere near great. The Cardinals are going to be starting their rookie Quarterback going forward. Doing this should make David Johnson’s value go up because he will be getting more passes out of the backfield.
We finished in second place for the week in Bob Lung’s Fantasy Cares Eliminator Best Ball League with a score of 160.12, which was 0.325 out of first place. As long as we stay in the top half, I am happy. Getting too close to the bottom is nerve-racking!
We lost in the Football Diehards Listeners League again! Quinn Shannon’s “But Why Male Models” beat us by 25 points. Shannon should be docked 10 points for having a terrible team name! We still would have lost even with terrible-team-name-docking.
I saved the craziest part of Week Three for last. I picked the Browns for the 5 Rings Survivor Pool! This went against every rule I have for survivor pools, including Never pick a Thursday Night game, and Never Ever pick the Browns! Instead of listening to my rules, I listened to my gut and boy oh boy did it pay off! The league commissioner was the only other player who chose the Browns, making the two of us the ballsiest players in the pool. At the end of Week Three the pool has shrunk from 106 all the way down to 9! That is unheard of, and was brought about in part by the lousy performances of the Vikings, Patriots and Jaguars.
While we can’t win every game in every league, we hope to have better results to report next week from the FFPC Main Event and the Football Diehards Listeners League. We have great players in both of those leagues and are very happy with our teams – they just need to pick up the pace and be more consistent.
