There are so many different types of Fantasy Football leagues we can be in. What is your favorite?
Some people only do one league per year and some do hundreds. No matter how many a person does, they always seem to come back to a favorite – in many cases, a hometown league.
We can all do those drafts online. They are fun and offer prizes and recognition, but there is something about drafting with the people we know that makes the hometown league our favorite.
Hometown drafts take place in garages, basements and local bars or pizza shops. This offers a better atmosphere than drafting online from home. We’ve even heard of leagues that draft in Vegas every year over a long weekend.
It is also more fun to win against a friend than to beat a random opponent.
One of the best things ….all of our blog followers know where this is going….is the hometown league trophy! The trophy is the best part of winning the hometown league around here! Don can’t wait to win that four-foot tall trophy again and place it right in the middle of our living room.
Some hometown leagues even have an embarrassing event for the loser, such as getting a loser tattoo, or, like Don’s hometown league, a bumper sticker that says I Suck At Fantasy Football.
Hometown leagues have their own set of unique rules which sets them apart from standard online leagues. Don’s hometown league gives bonuses for touchdowns over 50 yards, carries over points during bye weeks, and has playoffs and a Super Bowl that coincides with the NFL’s playoffs and Super Bowl.
Not everyone would enjoy those rules, but Don’s hometown league is his favorite by far.
